The Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (RQF) is aimed at those learners currently working as a teaching assistant who wish to progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant status.
The Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (RQF) will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding when analysing and addressing the different challenges that classroom assistants are likely to encounter. Learners will also understand methods of working with individuals and small groups, as well as gaining essential insight into supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
Learner Entry Requirements
Learners are required to be working within a school as a teaching assistant and complete a maths and English assessment online before enrolment and complete a telephone interview

Progression routes
On successful achievement of the Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate For Higher Level teaching Assistants (RQF) learners may wish to progress onto becoming a teacher. Qualifications could include the following:
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
- Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
Age Ranges
Entry is at the discretion of the centre; however, learners should be at least 16 years old to undertake this qualification.

This qualification is available in England and Northern Ireland.

FUNDING
Advanced Learning Loan
If you are aged 19 or above, you may qualify for an Advanced Learning Loan to help pay for your course fees. Most learners aged 19 and over, studying at Level 3 or Level 4, will qualify for these loans from the UK government. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000 a year!
